4 inch deep triangle louvered gable vents are actually 3 1/2 inches deep.  This is an industry standard started years ago.  The idea was if your stud is a 2x4, actual 1 1/2" x 3 1/2", then your gable vent should be 3 1/2 inches to match.  If you are mounting your triangle gable vent diretly to the studs, the vent should not extend past the studs into the attic.  If it does, it can be a safety hazard when you are walking near the gable wall.  Also, exending beyond the studs does not help in venting the attic.

The real question here is how would you like to install your triangle attic vent?

We offer 4 inch deep triangle attic vents with no flange, front flange, j channel and back flange.  Get the mounting options you want for your triangle louvered attic vent.  The right flange will speed up the attic vent install.

Venting your attic is important and we want you to get the right attic vent.

If you need help calculating your net free air needed for your attic end vent, do not ask us or trust any website telling you to trust them.  We can not see your attic space or it's configuration and obstructions.  You will need a professional to look at your attic and gable configuration to tell you how much venting you need.  The net free of these triangle attic vents are computer calculated and may vary slightly with the options you choose.  A professional attic vent installer will have the knowledge to help you in this matter.
