Louver Vents

Install of a louver vent can depend upon the shape, but they all have the same basic principal.

First, you need to remove your old vent or cut a hole the right size for your new vent.  (note: Always check behind the wall for electrical and plumbing before cutting.)

Mounting with a flange:  Your hole should be 1/2" larger in height and 1/2" larger in width than the back of the gable vent.  This will allow an easy install and alignment.

Mounting with no flange outside the wall:  Your hole should be 2" to 4" smaller in height and width to leave room for the vent to mount.

Once your vent is in place, you can place your fasteners right through the flange to secure it.  Or if you wish to hide your fasteners, you can use a fastener at an angle behind a louver face.  Just don't over tighten.
